Feature of the Month

FEBRUARY 2002

MULTI-STORE OPERATIONS

February’s feature concerns multi-store operations.  Occasionally, RPRO will prevent polling because files are exposed on various workstations that were not logged out.  File corruption can occur in any software, however, RPRO is designed to activate locks that prevent file corruption.  Unfortunately, the locks can prevent polling to occur.  Creating a batch file and scheduling the batch to run before processing will remove locks and allow polling.

1. Open Notepad
2.

Make it look like this:

DEL SEMA*.*

DEL WSL*.*

3. Save the file in your rpro directory as remlock.bat
4. Open your RPRO directory and make sure your batch file has a gear on it, NOT the Notepad look.
5. If it does look the like the Notepad icon You need to open your folder options and uncheck the setting that says Hide file extensions for known file types.  Depending on your Operating System and Version of Internet Explorer, this setting will be under either Tool>Folder Options or View>Option

6. It now needs to be scheduled.  Open the Retail Pro scheduler
7. Right click and add a new task
8. Click on Run Program
9. Put in a Task Name: Remove Locks
10. Click on the envelope to the right of the program name field
11. In the files of type drop down choose all files
12.

Search for your remlock.bat file. Remember it needs to have the gear.

Click Open

13. Fill in the Start in directory by clicking on the envelope to the right of the field and then clicking OK

14. Schedule this task to run a few minutes before process out and in
15.   That’s it.  You now have a process to remove locks during polling.
