Scheduling Windows Reconstruct

Big Hairy Dog recommends that you reconstruct your Retail Pro data files on a regular basis.  Many stores reconstruct their data when they notice problems, but by proactively running reconstructs you can avoid running into many of these problems in the first place.  We do understand that not everybody is able to focus on this maintenance on a daily basis, so instead you can use the Retail Pro Scheduler to run this task for you.  The following instructions will guide you through saving a reconstruct list and scheduling it to run nightly.

	Open the Reconstruct Module.  This should be in your Tools menu in Retail Pro.			File Categories = All Choose the ‘Add All’ button (second arrow from top) Choose the ‘Save’ button (Disk Icon)

	File name = Reconlst.txt Choose ‘Save’			Open Scheduler (Tools > Scheduler) Right Click the window and choose ‘Add Task’

	Task Name = Reconstruct Data Program Name = path to reconst.exe Start In = path to rpro directory Parameters = /list:reconlst.txt /f /a /c /m /h			Choose the ‘Schedule’ tab at the top of the window Occurs = Daily Daily Frequency = Occurs Once at: 10:00PM (or whichever time works best with your schedule.) Choose ‘OK’
7				Note: If you are a multi store and poll each night this task should be scheduled to occur before your polling cycle does.
	Options > ‘Make current schedule default’ Options > Check ‘Run on startup’ File > ‘Save’

Note:  Version 7 Users - Scheduling Windows Reconstruct requires prior installation of the Windows Reconstruct module.  If you are on version 7.63 or later, Windows Reconstruct is already on your system.  Previous versions of 7 series did not have Windows Reconstruct as a standard feature.  If you are on a previous version and wish to have Windows Reconstruct installed, please contact BHD customer service to schedule an appointment.  You will need to have Windows Reconstruct installed to run it from scheduler.
