Feature of the Month – March 2006 Enhanced Exchange
VERSION 8
It has been asked many times, by many people, “CAN I POLL MORE THAN ONE STORE AT ONE TIME”. The answer is YES, but you have to set it up to do this. For those users on 8 series, it is very simple. AT THE MAIN:
1) Click on
the Tools button
2) Click on
the Polling button
3) Click on
the Options button within polling
4) Click in
the Preferences button 5) Choose Exchange, and the choose “Total number of stations to exchange with” and enter the number of stores you have
6) Click on OK and you are done
NOTE: Exchange will automatically use port 20000 as default, and if it determines that someone is already using that port, it will go to the next available port (sequentially increasing by 2) until all the stores are used up. [i.e. if store one is connected when stores 2 and 3 try to exchange, store 1 will use ports 20000 and 20001, store 2 will use 20002 and 20003, and store 3 will use 20004 and 20005.]
WARNING: if you are using modem polling it will require the use of multiple modems, since each connection will require a phone line. THEREFORE, IT IS THE PREFERED METHOD OF USE FOR ONLY INTERNET POLLING
