REDUCE THE SIZE OF YOUR BACKUP

(Applies to users on 7.63 and above using NTI Backup Now! Versions 3.0 and up)

There are numerous Retail Pro files that do not need do not need to be backed up.  The time required to restore a backup can be decreased dramatically without these files.  To remove them from your nightly backup follow the instructions below.  Note: some folders will not exist on your system, depending on the version of Retail Pro installed.)

First, find out what your backup job is named.  Double-click on the NTI Backup NOW! Scheduler icon in the system tray:   

Note the name of the scheduled job, in this case “untitled.bjf”:

Close this window and open NTI Backup NOW! by clicking on Start>Programs>NTI Backup Now!>NTI Backup NOW! 3 (or 4):

Click on Job (upper-left hand corner of NTI), then click on the name of your backup job:

Expand My Computer, then your R: drive, then the Retail8 folder:

Remove the check from emanuals and Practice:

Expand the Rpro folder and remove the check from Polling and Securdoc:

Click on Job>Save, close NTI, and you’re done!
