Retail Pro Feature of the Month June 2007
Removing Locks Version 7
When Retail Pro is started, certain files are read in your system to determine if there are any conflicts accessing the program files or the data. This is necessary in order to maintain data integrity. In some cases, these files can report modules or workstations being in use, even though they are not. Power outages, ungraceful shutdowns (pressing the power button), computer crashes, etc usually cause this situation. In most cases, it can be resolved fairly easily by following the steps below. If the problem cannot be solved by the solutions provided here, contact BHD technical support for further assistance.
“This Workstation is already in use”If you get this message by itself, the system thinks more than one instance of RPRO is running at the same time on this workstation. The first thing you must do is check to see if RPRO is running more than once. Go to the main menu of RPRO. At the very bottom of the screen, you will see a START button. Next to the START button, you will see the programs that are currently running. Make sure RPRO is only listed once. If there is more than one copy running, you need to exit the extra copies by clicking on them and exiting.
1. Once you are sure there is only one copy of RPRO running, go into Workstation Preferences.
2. If you get a warning again saying the workstation is in use, press the spacebar once and answer YES to remove the locks. 3. You can now escape out to the main menu and use RPRO as usual. Other “In use” messagesYou may get messages saying that certain modules are in use (i.e. “POS/Inventory in use”). This means that the system thinks that a module is being used somewhere and the action you are choosing is causing a conflict.
1. First, check to make sure the module in question is no longer being used at any of the workstations. If it is being used, the warning is valid and you must exit the module to continue with your task. If the module is not being used, you need remove the locks. To do this, have all but one workstation exit RPRO. Then, on that workstation go into System Preferences. If you get a warning saying that the module is in use, press the spacebar once and answer YES to remove the locks. You may be prompted more than once. Continue until you get to the System Preferences menu. You can now escape out to the main menu and bring the other workstations back up.

Removing Locks Version 8
To remove any lock in version 8
IMPORTANT : Make sure that all workstations are out of Retail Pro before running RproDB !
The same conditions apply to version 8 as described in the version 7 section. When you get any lock messages in version 8, you also have to remove locks and you do that the following way:
1.
2. It will ask you to remove locks at this point. You will answer YES to that and it will open the RproDB module. After that you can select CLOSE on the bottom and it will take you to the main menu of Retail Pro.
You are now ready to use the system again.
