How To Design Reports To Have Space For Punch Holes

When designing reports in both Retail Pro 8 series and 7 series.

The reports always left justify making it very difficult to punch

holes for storage in a 3 ring binder without losing part of your

report.  In order to design a report such that it can be punched

without losing data:

 8 Series

Open Reports and find the report you want to edit (note: the

report you want to convert must have enough room on the

right side in order to shift the report for holes. To get this

space you can either remove unwanted or unneeded files

from the layout or reduce the font size for the report)

Choose Edit on the report and click on Layouts to open the

Layout for the report.

In the list find a descriptive field that is not used in inventory

(ie:Description 3, Description 4, or and of the AUX or MISC fields

that you don’t use. Or, for Journal reports fields like Note,

Comment2, or PO#.)

Drag that field to the top of the list of layout fields.

Choose Save.

Now when the report is printed the first column will print blank

giving you space to punch your holes.

How To Design Reports To Have Space For Punch Holes

Series 7

Open General Reports>Designers and browse to the report

you wish to modify. (note: the report you want to convert must

have enough room on the right side in order to shift the report

for holes. To accomplish this, remove fields from the layouts

that are unwanted or unneeded or change the cpi setting in the

report option to 17 cpi if it is not already.)

Enter on Layout and look through the list for a field that you don’t

use for your inventory descriptions (ie:Description 3, Description 4,

or and of the AUX or MISC fields that you don’t use.  Or for journal

reports use fields like NOTES, COMMENT 2, or CUST PO#)

Press Enter on that item and use the up arrow to move it to the top of your list. Then press Esc and then choose Save.

Now when the report is printed it will print the first field as blank giving you space to punch your holes without losing a section of your report.
