NON-Inventory Rows

* Version 7 *

If you make frequent use of ‘Jackpot Rows’ (a row in inventory used to record the sale or special order of items that are not individually defined in inventory), you may wish to designate them as ‘Non-Inventory’ rows.  Jackpot rows often have negative quantities in inventory.  Items designated as Non-Inventory will not be updated for quantity and/or committed changes, avoiding possible confusion.

To use Non-Inventory Rows in V7, you must first add the FLAGS field to one of your inventory screens.

Go into Preferences>System>:

Select Screen Designer:

Select Inventory:

Then choose Set (warning!  Do not choose Reset, as this will return all screen designs to their ‘default’ settings!):

Using the and keys, select a screen that has enough room to add a small field to.  For example, this screen does not have enough room:

This one does:

Make note of the screen # (highlighted in the image above), as you will need it later.

Once you’ve selected a screen, choose Add.  Scroll through the list and press <Enter> on New Inventory Flags:

The FLAGS field will appear on the screen like so:

You can use the and keys to position the field where you’d like it:

Then press <Enter> to save:

Once you’ve added the Flags field to a screen, escape back to the main menu.  Go into POS/Inventory>Inventory:

Find a Jackpot Row that you’d like to designate as Non-Inventory, then choose Edit:

Now you’ll need to switch to the screen with the FLAGS field.  To do so, hold down <Alt> and press the number key that corresponds to the screen #.  For example, if you added the FLAGS field to Screen 8, you would hold down <Alt> and press the <8> key (Do not use the numeric keypad for this, it will not work!).  The screen # is displayed in the upper left-hand corner of the screen (shown highlighted images below):

With the cursor in the FLAGS field, press <Alt>.  The following menu will appear:

Press the space bar TWICE.  A √ will appear next to Skip Committed and Skip Inven Qty:

Then press <End>.  The flags field will now look like this:

Repeat for any other Jackpot Rows.

* Version 8 *

To use Non-Inventory Rows in V8, you must first add the Non-Inventory and Committed fields to Inventory List View.

Go into Merchandise>Inventory>Item View:

Right-click in the column header area and choose Interface>Page Manager:

Scroll down until you find the Non-Inventory and Committed fields (shown highlighted in gray):

Double click on Non-Inventory, then on Committed, then on Apply.  You will now see the Non-Inventory and Committed fields on your inventory screen:

Locate a Jackpot Row that you’d like to designate as Non-Inventory, highlight it and click on Edit:

Click on the Non-Inventory box to place a √ there, and click on the Committed box to remove the √:

Click on Save and you’re done.  Repeat the process for any other Jackpot Rows.
